A Trail Wallet alternative, now that Trail Wallet is gone
Trail Wallet is no longer available. Voyage Travel Apps has marked its page as archival, and the app came off the App Store in August 2026. If you have been using it for years, you are not looking for something new so much as something that does the same job without disappearing.
The short version
Choose Tasca if
- You want the daily budget model Trail Wallet used
- You want it to keep working with no signal

- You want an export so you are never stranded like this again
About Trail Wallet itself
- Trail Wallet is no longer downloadable
- It still runs if you already have it installed
- It is no longer maintained, so an iOS update may end it
- Export your data now, while it still opens

First, get your data out of Trail Wallet
If Trail Wallet still opens on your phone, do this before anything else. It is not maintained, which means the next iOS release is the one that might end it, and there will be no update to fix that.
Open each trip you care about and use the CSV export. Email the files to yourself or drop them into Files or iCloud Drive. A CSV of your last five years of travel spending is worth more than the app that produced it, and once it is out you can take your time choosing what comes next.
What Trail Wallet got right, and what to insist on in a replacement
Trail Wallet lasted as long as it did because it understood one thing: a travel budget is a daily number, not a monthly one. It asked how much you wanted to spend per day, showed you that number, and got out of the way. Plenty of newer apps have lost that in favour of dashboards.
- A daily budget as the main screen, not a monthly category report
- Multi-currency that keeps the local price as well as the converted one
- Entry fast enough to do at the table, in three or four taps
- Full offline operation, because that is when you are travelling
- An export you can run yourself, so you are never trapped again
Where Tasca lands
Tasca is built on the same daily budget idea, with the parts Trail Wallet never got to: per country breakdowns for multi country trips, a spend calendar, a Home Screen widget, Siri entry, and exports in three formats rather than one.
It also carries forward what you underspend. A cheap day makes tomorrow's allowance bigger, which is how a daily budget across a fixed trip is supposed to behave.
It is free, with no item cap and no unlock. The lesson of an app disappearing is not that you should pay more for the next one, it is that you should be able to walk away from it with your data whenever you want.
Questions
Why did Trail Wallet disappear?
Voyage Travel Apps has marked the Trail Wallet page as archival and the app came off the App Store in August 2026. It still runs if you already have it installed, but it is no longer maintained or downloadable.
Can I still use Trail Wallet if it is on my phone?
For now, yes. Because it is unmaintained, a future iOS release could break it with no fix coming, so export your trips to CSV while it still opens.
Can I import my Trail Wallet data into Tasca?
Not directly. Tasca imports its own JSON format rather than arbitrary CSV files. Most people keep the Trail Wallet CSV as an archive and start their next trip fresh, since travel budgets are naturally per trip.
Is there a Trail Wallet alternative that is free?
Tasca is free with no item limit, no ads and no paid tier. Trail Wallet was free to 25 items with a paid unlock beyond that.
