Is Tasca free?
Tasca is free to download today, and every feature described on this site is in the app. If that changes we will say so here rather than quietly moving things behind an upgrade.
Does Tasca work without internet?
Yes. Tasca is built offline first. Every trip, expense, category and report lives on your iPhone, so you can log a coffee on a train with no signal. The only thing that needs a connection is refreshing exchange rates, and Tasca caches the last rates it fetched so conversion keeps working while you are offline.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign up, no email and no password. Open the app and start a trip. If you turn on iCloud, your trips sync between your own devices through your personal iCloud account, which Tasca cannot read.
Which currencies does Tasca support?
You can record an expense in any currency and set a different home currency for reporting. Automatic conversion covers 160 or so currencies, drawn from official central bank rates, which includes the ones smaller apps tend to miss such as Vietnamese dong, Uzbek som, Georgian lari and Cambodian riel. For anything outside that set you can enter the rate yourself and Tasca will keep using it.
Where do the exchange rates come from?
Official central bank rates, aggregated by frankfurter.dev across more than 80 central banks. They are published rates rather than a spread invented by a company, so the number in your report is one you can point at. Rates are cached on device and refreshed in the background, and anything out of date is marked stale rather than silently used.
Can I track a trip across several countries?
Yes. Each expense records the country it happened in, so a trip through five countries gives you five separate breakdowns as well as a trip total. You get spend per country, cost per day per country and the share of the trip each country took.
Can two people share a trip?
Tasca is a single person tracker today. You can split one expense across categories or across days, and export the trip so someone else can settle up, but there is no shared live trip between two phones.
Does Tasca connect to my bank?
No. Tasca never asks for bank logins or card details, and it has no connection to any financial institution. You enter what you spend, or scan a receipt. That is a deliberate choice: no bank feed means no credentials to leak.
What happens to my data?
It stays on your device. Tasca contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no crash reporting service that ships your trips anywhere. The only network request the app makes is for exchange rates, which sends nothing but the currency codes.
Can I get my data out?
Any time. Export a trip as CSV for a spreadsheet, JSON for a complete backup you can import back into Tasca, or a formatted PDF summary with charts and tables for expense claims.
Does the receipt scanner send my photos anywhere?
No. Receipt text recognition runs on device using Apple's Vision framework. The photo never leaves your iPhone, and Tasca does not keep the image after you confirm the expense.
What iPhone do I need?
Tasca runs on iOS 18.6 and later. The Home Screen widget and Lock Screen Live Activity need the same.
